Welcome to the third edition of the Kanto Expansion Pak OU Open! (ignore that the first two tournaments don't share the same name.) With the release of KEP 1.4, the meta has shifted drastically. With new names, sprites, complete overhauls of some Pokemon, and the removal of Tradebacks Clause, allowing transfer moves from GSC. We hope you have a great time playing!

Basic Info

The RBY Kanto Expansion Pak is a mod that adds;
  • Scrapped Pokemon, regional forms, and cross-gen evolutions adjacent to Gen 1. Also, Melmetal.
  • The SpaceWorld '97 Dark- and Steel-types alongside modern Fairy; type chart here.
    • Notably, Dark is weak to Normal, and Steel is sort of an inverse Rock-type.
    • Moves for these types are added and feature effects that are identical to what already exists in RBY. For example, Feint Attack is a Dark-type Swift, so it's imported.
The mod is designed to not have the top tiers fundamentally changed, but the metagame around them diversifies. It's compatible with virtually any competitive format under the sun, truly embodying the "Expansion Pak" concept.

  • All general tournament rules and guidelines apply.
  • This is a Double Elimination bracket. Each player will play a minimum of 2 rounds.
  • Each round will last exactly one week, barring extensions.
  • All matches up to Grand Finals will be played in a best-of-three format (win two games to advance to the next round.) Grand Finals will be a best-of-five (win three games.)
    • A bracket reset will occur if the player from the Losers' bracket wins the first set. The player coming from the Winners' bracket will be transported to Loser's bracket and another best-of-five set will begin.
  • Every game will be played under the [Gen 1] Kanto Expansion Pak OU format at petmodsdh.com (It loads slowly the first time but it works, promise!)
  • Replays are required to be posted each round as .html files. CLICK THE 'DOWNLOAD REPLAY' BUTTON AND SUBMIT THE FILES!!! THE SERVER OVERRIDES UPLOADED REPLAYS ON OCCASION.
1st place: $100 USD
2nd place: $50 USD

If you feel overwhelmed with all the new choices when building a team, feel free to load a standard RBY OU team. The meta was balanced adding new options without causing powercreep. Just keep in mind that Tradebacks Clause was removed, so options such as Lovely Kiss on Snorlax and Amnesia on Hypno are legal.
