name: Offensive Calm Mind
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Surf
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Thunder Wave / Thunder / Tera Blast
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers
ability: Drizzle
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA /
tera type: Fairy / Poison / Ground

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Offensive Calm Mind Kyogre is a decent setup sweeper on offensive and balance teams for its ability to punch big holes in defensive cores for its team to exploit.
  • Ice Beam allows Kyogre to threaten Dragon-types like Koraidon, Miraidon, and Eternatus, which can withstand Kyogre’s STAB attack. Koraidon is a noteworthy target, because it can otherwise easily oppose Kyogre’s rain with its sun. Ice Beam also hits Clodsire, which otherwise completely walls this Kyogre set without Tera Ground Tera Blast.
  • Kyogre can easily spread paralysis with Thunder Wave thanks to it naturally forcing out Ground-types with its STAB, which is appreciated by slower teams.
  • Thunder lets Kyogre smack defensive Water-types that would resist Surf and Ice Beam, like Toxapex and Dondozo, as well as laying waste to opposing Kyogre. It also hits Pokemon that may Terastallize into a Water-type, like Eternatus and Zacian-C.
  • With Tera Ground, Tera Blast can 2HKO Clodsire without setting up, even if it is Terastallized into a Steel-type, while also hitting Toxapex. However, it has very little practical use outside of this.
  • Kyogre has no reliable recovery, so Heavy-Duty Boots is the preferred item so it doesn’t get worn down by entry hazards. Leftovers can be used on teams that have reliable hazard removal like Giratina-O.
  • Tera Fairy gives Kyogre a Fighting resistance and Dragon immunity, making it impossible for Koraidon to threaten Kyogre in rain.
  • Tera Poison gives Kyogre a Fighting resistance and a Toxic immunity, and also allows it to absorb Toxic Spikes from Eternatus, Toxapex, and Clodsire.
  • Tera Ground gives Kyogre an Electric immunity, letting it avoid Electro Drift from Miraidon and Thunder from opposing Kyogre.
  • Tera Grass, on the other hand, gives Kyogre Ground and Electric resistances, letting it set up on Pokemon it otherwise cannot, like Groudon, Arceus-Ground, and Miraidon.
  • This Kyogre set is a good fit on balance teams that struggle against defensive teams, as it is a bulky setup sweeper that can take advantage of common defensive Pokemon like Skeledirge and Ting-Lu to spread paralysis with Thunder Wave.
  • Zacian-C is a fantastic partner, able to threaten many Pokemon commonly used to threaten Kyogre without a Substitute, like Koraidon and Miraidon. Zacian-C also loves Kyogre’s rain neutering its Fire weakness.
  • Koraidon can pivot into Kyogre with U-turn while taking attacks used against Kyogre, like opposing Koraidon’s Flare Blitz when Kyogre is Terastallized and Miraidon’s Electro Drift. Koraidon also loves Kyogre threatening physical checks like Skeledirge, Toxapex, and Groudon.
  • Clodsire lures like Choice Specs Miraidon are great for Kyogre, as Kyogre is completely walled by Clodsire that has Terastallized into a Steel-type if it doesn't have Tera Ground Tera Blast.

[SET COMMENTS]
  • SubCM Kyogre is a decent setup sweeper on offensive and balance teams for its ability to easily beat many common defensive Pokemon 1v1, like Skeledirge, Toxapex, Clodsire, and Ting-Lu.
  • The given EV spread and a Modest nature allows Kyogre to survive +1 Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground’s Earthquake after Stealth Rock, almost guarantee an OHKO on Koraidon at +1 with Ice Beam, create Substitutes that can survive attacks like Clodsire’s Earthquake, Blissey’s Seismic Toss, and Defensive Eternatus’ Dynamax Cannon at +1, and outspeed Defensive Utility Groudon.
  • Tera Grass gives Kyogre a Ground and Electric resistance, letting it set up on Pokémon it otherwise cannot, like Groudon, Arceus-Ground, and Miraidon.
  • Tera Fairy, on the other hand, gives Kyogre a Fighting resistance and Dragon immunity, making it hard for Koraidon to stop its sweep.
  • SubCM Kyogre is a good fit on balance teams that struggle against defensive teams as a bulky setup sweeper that can easily set up on the defensive Pokemon commonly used against it, like Clodsire and Blissey.
  • Zacian-C is a fantastic partner, able to threaten many Pokemon commonly used to threaten Kyogre without a Substitute, like Koraidon and Miraidon. Zacian-C also loves Kyogre’s rain neutering its Fire weakness.
  • Koraidon can pivot into Kyogre with U-turn while taking attack used against Kyogre, like opposing Koraidon’s Flare Blitz and Miraidon’s Electro Drift. Koraidon also loves Kyogre threatening physical checks like Skeledirge, Toxapex, and Groudon.

Hey! One major thing. I know this set was approved, but it is far too similar to the Bulky Calm Mind set I already finished prior, and as such we would like to see a set like this instead:

name: Offensive CM
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Origin Pulse / Surf
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Thunder Wave / Thunder / Tera Blast
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers
ability: Drizzle
nature: Modest
evs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
tera type: Fairy / Poison / Ground

And you should mention Tera Grass in the set description for the electric / ground resist.

Will give QC 1/2 after this is implemented

completing up qc,

Substitute allows Kyogre to easily set up on every defensive Pokemon in the tier, eating up their weak attacks and avoiding their status. Substitute also allows Kyogre to scout the intentions of Choiced attackers after it claims a KO, like Koraidon and Miraidon.
reword this to specify mainly etern + clodsire bc you dont need sub for the rest

mention specs mirai / other clod lures bc this set is hopelessly walled by clod if it chooses to tera + if you dont have sub

also you still need to do this set:

move 4: Thunder Wave / Thunder / Tera Blast
tera type: Fairy / Poison / Ground

with Tera Grass only in the analysis and not the actual set.

mention what Ice Beam does; it's a bit intuitive but also not to the point of it being a STAB move so it definitely needs an explanation. In Water-types that Thunder hits, I'd like to see a mention of common Tera Water opponents. Things like Eternatus spring to mind as well as Zacian-C.

Speed creep isn't for defensive Groudon; that's a Pokemon with the exact same base speed as you. Find a mention that isn't "I creep the speed creep that the other mon has" because then it becomes a war of attrition where everyone keeps bumping up their Speed arbitrarily. 12 Speed lets you outspeed Jolly Calyrex-I which is something people SOMETIMES run. Otherwise, just do max HP with no Speed.
Explain why HDB is first item and when Leftovers is preferred.
