Manaphy @ Leftovers
Name: Offensive Setup Sweeper (Water)
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe OR 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Timid / Bold Nature
- Tail Glow
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Psychic / Substitute

[SET COMMENTS]
Manaphy is an incredibly potent wallbreaker for Water teams, making use of the highly coveted Tail Glow in tandem with its great bulk and coverage to blast through bulky Water resists. Ice Beam targets Dragon-types like Dragonite and Roaring Moon and Grass-types like Hydrapple and Sinistcha. Psychic allows Manaphy to break through many Pokemon troublesome for Water teams, such as Toxapex, Amoonguss, and Clodsire. The given defensive EVs let Manaphy use Substitute safely in front of Alolan Muk, as well as other passive foes like Toxapex and Blissey. The remaining speed lets Manaphy outpace the likes of Adamant Dragonite and Mamoswine.

Manaphy's wallbreaking powers greatly aid speedy sweepers like Greninja, Urshifu-R, and Swift Swim Pokemon like Barraskewda and Kingdra, which can be slowed down by the aforementioned Water resists like Toxapex and Water Absorb Clodsire as well as other special walls like Articuno. Manaphy appreciates Electric immunities like Swampert and Quagsire, both of which can set up hazards to support Manaphy's wallbreaking. Ogerpon-W can very easily pivot into Manaphy and pose to be a huge threat to it and its teammates, offensive checks to it are a necessity for Manaphy to succeed, such as Sludge Wave Greninja, Choice Scarf X-Scissor Hisuian Samurott, and Hurricane Pelipper. In return, Manaphy opens up holes in the opponent's defenses for these faster teammates to clean up late-game. Grass neutralities like Toxapex, Tentacruel, and Ogerpon-W all help shore up Manaphy’s weaknesses as well. Tentacruel provides great hazard control, with both Toxic Spikes and Rapid Spin, and with Rain Dish it can stay quite healthy in the Rain. Ogerpon-W outspeeds powerful threats to Manaphy like Landorus and Thundurus-T and can KO them with Rain-boosted Ivy Cudgel. Should Manaphy be paired with Drizzle Pelipper, the Rain allows Manaphy's Hydration to shrug off status effects, making it impossible to wear down with Poison or slow down with Paralysis.

Manaphy may use Energy Ball to hit opposing Water-types that otherwise aren't much effected by its coverage such as Hisuian Samurott. . Alluring Voice is an alternative to Ice Beam as coverage for Dragon-types, although if Manaphy forgoes Psychic or Ice Beam, it can no longer hit Water Absorb Clodsire effectively. Manaphy can also use Rest in conjunction with Hydration to increase its longevity tenfold in the face of passive foes. Heavy-Duty Boots allow a more offensive Manaphy spread to safely enter the field successively.

Manaphy is an incredibly potent wallbreaker for Water teams, making use of the highly coveted Tail Glow in tandem with its great bulk and coverage to cleave (very very catto nitpick but Manaphy doesnt really have a cleaving move, it has a blasting move tho [since it sprays water/ice]) through bulky Water resists. Psychic allows Manaphy to break through many Pokemon troublesome for Water teams, such as Toxapex, Amoonguss, and Water Absorb Clodsire. (add something about the newly added substitute, it lets Manaphy wear down Toxapex too since its pressured by limited Recovers, and with Burn, its sub not being easily breakeable means that even without Psychic, Mana will do lots vs Pex in the long run) Ice Beam targets Dragon-types like Dragonite and Roaring Moon, and Grass-types like Hydrapple and Sinistcha (also retains coverage vs Cloddy). Should Manaphy be paired with Drizzle Pelipper, the Rain allows Manaphy's Hydration to shrug off status effects, making it impossible to wear down with Poison or slow down with Paralysis.
(the new "or" spread lets it outspeed Adamant Mamo and Dnite, 101 HP subs, and prevents Alolan Muk's Knock Off not break sub nearly all of the time [like, literally one roll, you dont need to mention that its just one roll tho]). also this spread is tied to substitute.)

Manaphy can also use Rest in conjunction with Hydration to increase its longevity tenfold in the face of passive foes (C&C thought that Rest should be other options instead).

Manaphy's wallbreaking powers greatly aid speedy sweepers like Greninja, Urshifu-R, and Swift Swim Pokemon like Barraskewda and Kingdra Floatzel, which can be slowed down by the aforementioned Water resists like Dragonite and Water Absorb Clodsire (weirdly enough, Dnite is a bit "manageable" since Gren just Ice Beams them into oblivion and Barra gets Flip, and Urshifu has Ice Spinner. Maybe use Toxapex, Articuno [for Gren], and keep Clod Ig). Manaphy appreciates Electric immunities like Swampert, Quagsire, and Volt Absorb Lanturn (no usage rn since no prominent Gknotter, its all Eball/Ogerpon/Meow rn. Since whats left are two hazard setters, can mention that too Ig). Ogerpon-W can very easily pivot into Manaphy and pose to be a huge threat to it and its teammates, offensive checks to it are a necessity for Water teams, such as Sludge Wave Greninja, Choice Scarf X-Scissor Hisuian Samurott, and Hurricane Pelipper.(all these three mentioned mons are pretty cool outside of checking Pon-chan tho, Hamu being a ceaseless edge guy helps mana overwhelm opposing teams esp when paired with scald chippy) Pivots into Grass-type attacks like Sap Sipper Azumarill and Grass neutralities like Volcanion, Toxapex, and Empoleon can also ease this matchup. (maybe rather than hyperfocusing on Ogerpon-W matchup [since Water only uses that pon, maybe highlight on what Pex/Tenta do for Mana? Volcanion also is highly niche, so not the best thing to add rn]
Tenta has spinny too which helps mana lots since its reliant on leftos to stay bulky)

*Ogerpon-W itself is also an ok team mate to mana, it outspeeds and bonks troublesome fast threats like Lando for it.

Manaphy may use Energy Ball to hit opposing Water-types. Alluring Voice is an alternative to Ice Beam as coverage for Dragon-types.(add that this makes mana suffer since it cant hit clod anymore)
*Add rest here and boots (only for timid/offensive ones tho)

Pivots into Grass-type attacks like Sap Sipper Azumarill and Grass neutralities like Toxapex, Tentacruel, and Ogerpon-W all help shore up Manaphy’s weaknesses as well.
Remove Sap Sipper Azu

Ogerpon-W can help Manaphy to lure Dragon-types with Play Rough, while also outspeeding powerful threats to Manaphy like Landorus and Thundurus-T.
you can remove the Dragon types part since Mana has Ice Beamu already. Pon likes Mana pressuring Pex though since Pon usually struggles with Pex

Manaphy may use Energy Ball to hit opposing Water-types. Alluring Voice is an alternative to Ice Beam as coverage for Dragon-types, although if Manaphy forgoes Psychic, it can no longer hit Water Absorb Clodsire effectively.
Psychic or Ice Beam instead of just psychic

Psychic allows Manaphy to break through many Pokemon troublesome for Water teams, such as Toxapex, Amoonguss, and Clodsire feels redundant to mention clodsire twice since both moves have the same effectiveness, i would remove the mention of it from icebeam just cuz you already gave great examples there. The given defensive EVs let Manaphy use Substitute safely in front of Alolan Muk, as well as other passive foes like Toxapex and Blissey. The remaining speed lets Manaphy outpace the likes of Adamant Dragonite and Mamoswine. Should Manaphy be paired with Drizzle Pelipper, the Rain allows Manaphy's Hydration to shrug off status effects, making it impossible to wear down with Poison or slow down with Paralysis. this seems like something you should mention in the teammate section, i would understand it if manaphy had more than one ability but it doesnt so i feel like it fits there better
