Leethoof shows up in the Battle Tower asking for this insanely large match, AOPSUser accepts it for inexplicable reasons, and I, being a self-proclaimed dummy, agree to ref such a monstrosity (admittedly for a very nice 28 UC). Well, regardless of why we're all here, there's a match and I've elected to ref it. So I'll stop with this already far-too-long intro and just get to the point of this opening post: to whine about how 0% chance Dodge cost me a win in the Pike to list the rules and your 'mons and whatnot!

Round 1 Begin!

Leethoof opens the battle by releasing Konstantine the Tyrunt and Ivetta the Spewpa to the field! Ivetta seems to be radiating an aura of happiness; perhaps it has some mystical properties? AOPSUser responds with Stargazer the Staryu (yay narcissism!) and Tsunami the Tirtouga, both of whom will eventually make it very hard for me to get Water GL. :( Anyway, regardless of my eventual hopes and dreams, the match is ready to begin!

Stargazer opens with a huge blast of cold air that chills both Konstantine and Ivetta to the bone. However, it seems that Ivetta's aura of happiness somehow reduced the damage from the attack, making it much more bearable, especially for Konstantine. Speaking of Konstantine, he returns metaphorical fire on Stargazer by charging his jaws with electricity and chomping down on one of Stargazer's tendrils(?). It seems that Konstantine's jaws are so strong that the attack did extra damage! Ivetta keeps the attack on Stargazer going by flooding its area of the arena with paralyzing spores that leave Stargazer stunned and slowed. Tsunami sees this attack and demands revenge, which he takes in the form of a bunch of water falling on Konstantine. However, it seems that Konstantine's draconic resilience and Ivetta's happy aura thing reduced the damage from the attack to the point that it inflicts very minor damage.

Ivetta opens Action 2 by releasing another cloud of spores. This time, however, the cloud affects both opponents and seems to be provoking them into a rage! (There must have been picante sauce in that cloud; getting that all over me would make me mad!) Konstantine follows that up with another electric chomp on Stargazer, doing some more serious damage. Stargazer is naturally very annoyed at this extra damage, but Ivetta's picante cloud is the larger distraction right now. Stargazer prepares a massive stream of bubbles to be launched at Ivetta...but at the last moment, its muscles lock up, preventing it from doing anything. Tough luck for AOPS. :/ Tsunami, also distracted by the spicy spores, redirects his Knock Off from Konstantine to Ivetta, although this results in it doing very little damage and also failing to knock anything off.

Konstantine then summons forth a huge wave of rocks that washes over both Stargazer and Tsunami. They actually don't seem to do a lot of damage, but it kind of looked like they would. Ivetta then takes her turn, releasing a third cloud of spores that make their way towards Tsunami. These spores are purple, in contrast to the other two, and we all know what purple means: Barney the dinosaur! poison! Tsunami looks disgusted at what has just entered his system, but both he and Stargazer are still in a state of mild shock at how ineffective Konstantine's Rock Slide was, so he doesn't fully realize what has happened until he takes some mild damage at the end of the action.

Round 1 is done, and Leethoof seems to have a huge advantage! Can he keep the pressure up, or will AOPSUser turn things around R2?

Round 2 Begin!

Leethoof, seeing that Ivetta won't be doing much more damage, swaps her out for Naomi the Turtwig, who seems much better suited to the battle at the moment. Konstantine, somewhat less happily with the loss of Friend Guard, opens the round by taking a bite out of crime Stargazer, who is looking very weak at the moment. Adding insult to injury, Naomi happens to barely outspeed the normally lightning-fast Staryu and nukes it with a Seed Bomb. All is not lost for Stargazer yet, however! Mustering up the strength to ward off paralysis, it unleashes a deadly Blizzard that nails both Konstantine and Naomi for super-effective damage! Tsunami, inspired by its teammate's willpower, smacks Konstantine up with a Waterfall, which hurts just a little more without Friend Guard up. Also, poison happens.

Stargazer is on his last legs (he's lost three to Thunder Fangs already), and Konstantine sees this as an opportunity to go for the KO. He unleashes a wave of rocks that crash over both of AOPS's Pokemon, easily KOing Stargazer in the process. Not to be outdone, Naomi slices into Tsunami's thick shell with a Razor Leaf that still leaves a mark in spite of Tsunami's sturdiness and rock-solid-ness. Seeing that he's going to be ganged up on next action, Tsunami rushes in with another Waterfall, and, again, he takes damages from the accursed poison.

Konstantine and Naomi team up this action, trying to pick off Tsunami as fast as possible. Konstantine's Thunder Fang actually does very little through Tsunami's thick hide, but Naomi's Seed Bomb does quite a number on the now-lonely turtle. Surprised at his own tough defenses in the face of Konstantine's assault, Tsunami revels a little too long and forgets to act, only ceasing to celebrate when the poison kicks in.

Leethoof has a clear lead at this point: he's up 6-5, Tsunami is in really bad shape, and AOPS has to order first next round. Can AOPS pull off a comeback, or will Leethoof's early lead push him through to the end?

Round 3 Begin!

AOPSUser calls in Bronzor the Bronzor the Bronzor the Bronzor the Bronzor to take Stargazer's place on the battlefield. Bronzor does so eagerly, almost as if it wants to redeem its lack of nickname. But it's Konstantine who gets the first strike in here, raking his deadly sharp claws across Tsunami's rock-hard shell. It seems that they almost left a mark, which is a testament to Tsunami's current bad health. Naomi follows up the claw assault with a barrage of explosive death seeds, leaving Tsunami on the brink of fainting. Bronzor hurriedly throws up some pointy rocks around Leethoof's side of the field; those should be pretty painful to any of Leethoof's 'mons switching in! Tsunami, sensing that his time is just about up, launches a last-ditch Waterfall at Konstantine. The attack connects and inflicts moderate damage, whereupon Tsunami faints! Looks like the poison caught up to him...

Bronzor shudders instinctively. It is now the only target for Leethoof's 'mons, and that's never a good thing. Konstantine tunnels into the earth, which gives Bronzor a momentary sense of relief: He can Levitate over that! But then, much to its dismay, Bronzor is engulfed in a cloud of strange gas, seemingly emitted from some seed fired by Naomi. The gas is so oppressive that Bronzor begins to consider the harder questions of life: "Where did I come from? Why am I here? What DOES the fox say?" Feeling suddenly unimportant, Bronzor drops to the ground and uses a futile Gyro Ball in an attempt to ward off the gas. Upon the meaningless attack's completion, Konstantine bursts out from the ground, delivers a mighty punch to Bronzor's face/entire body, and runs away from the gas before he too is inflicted with the curse of Ylvis.

The third action doesn't go any better for AOPS, as Konstantine avoids Gyro Ball with Dig again and Naomi delivers a blast of earthen energy that in fact scores a critical hit on Bronzor. (Must have hit a joint or something.) Things continue to look worse for AOPS, who now has to send out another Pokemon while Leet hasn't lost any. Stealth Rock could prove to be a useful advantage, however. We'll just have to wait and see!

Round 4 Begin!

AOPS, looking grim, deploys Temptation the Lotad in the hopes of getting some damage done. Temptation immediately brightens the arena with her derpy smile and lilypad cap, only to have her enjoyment cut short by a vicious (and poisonous!) bite from Konstantine. She angrily reacts by shooting Konstantine head-on with a Mega Drain, restoring some of her fiesta-driven vitality; at the same time, Naomi triggers a tremor that encases Bronzor in sand. Bracing itself for the pain, Bronzor leaps out of the Sand Tomb, suffering some minor damage as a result, and plows into Konstantine with a deadly/accurate Gyro Ball. The impact force is so great, in fact, that Konstantine is blown off his feet and carried a couple yards away. When the dust from his landing settles, the result is clear: Konstantine has fainted! AOPSUser rejoices at this, his first KO, and Bronzor feels a profound sense of relief at having proved itself to be up to par.

Naomi is in a predicament now, since Bronzor and Temptation can gang up on her. Seeing the circumstances, she unleashes a powerful Earth Power in Bronzor's direction; Temptation takes advantage of her distraction to conjure up a 100% natural Tri Attack. The attacks connect simultaneously; however, Naomi shrugs off the Nature Power rather easily, while Bronzor's armor chinks from the force of the energy! It looks like it'll be more susceptible to special attacks for a little while, but at least the Sand Tomb ended due to Naomi's need to focus on that Earth Power. Now with a chance to act, Bronzor unleashes some serious psychic waves, draining Naomi of what appears to be exactly 10 HP in the process.

Action 3 is, again, a total repeat of Action 2. As this round draws to a close, both Bronzor and Naomi are looking worse for the wear. Leethoof gets the advantage next turn, since he can both send in and act second, but Stealth Rock may very well put a damper on his plans. The match is 5-4 now, and it's just heating up!

Round 5 Begin!

Leethoof sends in Ivetta to replace the fallen Konstantine, and she does so with eagerness, although she winces quite a bit at the prodding of Bronzor's Stealth Rock. Seizing the initiative, she rushes forward and latches onto Bronzor, dealing a tiny amount of damage through his tough armor. Temptation then continues her natural assault, this time launching the type-confused triangle at Ivetta. Her aura of friendship cushions some of the blow, though, meaning it deals very pitiful damage, especially for its energy cost. That tiny bit of Bug Bite damage proves critical now, as Naomi unleashes an Earth Power on Bronzor. It wouldn't have done quite enough damage thirty seconds ago, but, thanks to Ivetta's efforts, Bronzor faints! AOPSUser recalls his titanium ally (mild pun intended), putting the score at 5-3 Leethoof!

Ivetta opens the next action with Picante Powder, hoping to draw Temptation's attack away from Naomi; however, due to her Hispanic heritage (and Grass-typing), Temptation is completely immune to the effects of the powder! Temptation prepares another Nature Power and releases it quickly, only to realize that her momentary pause for reminiscence has allowed Naomi to put up a Light Screen that reduces the damage from her attack on Ivetta to absolutely pitiful levels.

Ivetta rushes forward to take a bite out of Temptation to open Action 3, and it does nearly twice the damage to Temptation that it did to Bronzor! Temptation, not happy at having her face eaten, launches yet another Tri Attack, this time hitting Naomi instead of Ivetta in her rage. None of the attack's possible effects happen, however, and all that the blow manages to do is interrupt Naomi's Chilling for a brief moment.

The scores stands at a grisly 5-3, with AOPSUser being at a serious disadvantage. While things look grim for him, both of Leethoof's active 'mons are in rather poor shape, so he could still pull something out of his hat. The question is: Will he?
