Here I am with the 5th Week. Because I know the other 4 matches will just not be done for X or Y reason I don't think is worth discussing those.

Because the sample of pokémon used doesn't even reach the hundred, I don't think it's very fair to analyze the meta change in a table, but rather to give a closer look to the teams used by the participants. I'll just mention 2 things
  1. Arceus reached a 100% usage, while Eternatus has over 40%. Meanwhile Kyogre-Primal and Miraidon stocks keep dropping to an all-time low of less than 15%.
  2. Audino-Mega had become quite popular lately. It has an horrendous winrate though.
Now, with the segment who will replace conclussions: Team previews.

Warning: Using those teams won't necessarily help you with your lack of skill. Take this more as concept teams in BH.

Opinion of the winners (Illustrated)

Augustakira: While no one can know what gender Augustakira is in showdown for reasons no one should discuss here, we can get clear conclussions about the playstyle. The Belgian seems to play like a Nile crocodile, somewhat slow and seemingly inocuous, until suddenly, the player uses a surprise nuke, while also being careful of surprise attacks itself. Is a player who behaves akin to Yugi, and could say "You activated my trap card" multiple times per game; said kind of players are better suited for semi-stall/balance teams, and that's exactly what was used here. In pokémon the equivalent is Clavel/Lenora, you know, gym leaders who caused millions of resets/Joy center visits due to surprise powerspike.

Chessking345: Chessking seems like a trainer which speciallity is to think outside of the box. Using pokemon almost no one would, able to create openings where most people wouldn't see any, and also improvise properly even if that involves painful sacrifices or big risks if necessary; those sacrifices and risks are avoided if there's a better solution btw, is just that no option is discarded. No wonder why he's the main organizer of this tournament, because he just seems in control. It reminds me of Sinnoh/Kalos/Alola/Galar Ash, a trainer who is great at improvising, creating chances where others wouldn't see one.

Eelstartega: He's just what people would call the Joey Wheeler of the group, a noob on his first tournament who wins more due to luck than skill. While his teambuilding is quite good unlike Joey, Eelstartega's turn-to-turn decision can be quite shortsighted. He already had serious issues in week 4, losing due to not using Close combat against Celesteela. Wouldn't be surprised if he dropped next week. If I had to make a comparison, he would be akin to Cameron, the main reason why the Unova league sucks and somehow was able to defeat Ash by deus and diabolus ex machina... Yes, I'm being harsh, but that's because I'll lose the next round if I keep making those mistakes.

RoFnA: RoFnA felt like a weird definition of "doing everything to win", akin to Marik (Sadly Chessking doesn't resemble Kaiba but rather Zane and Yusei). Not in a literal evil sense but more of a Mastermind who kinda controls all actions the opponent does with how good it's at reading the opponent, to put it in a checkmate situation with forced hazards. Also, similar to Chessking, he can use unorthodox picks, not to the same degree but more to wallbreak where the opponent wouldn't expect it. He felt like Elesa, an obnoxious gym leader with patrons and switching you can't really exploit without certain kind of team. I guess the profile does suit his style.

Do I regret doing said Analysis? ABSOLUTELY YES, I DO. It took me like 8-10 hours of edition so it could look nicely in the board, and it was just 8 Battles and 8 active participants. But you know what they say, It doesn't matter if you're doing wrong, you end what you started anyways. Oh, here are also the previous weeks, if you're curious:
Week 1
Week 2
Week 3
Week 4

Now, if you excuse me, I'll go to rest until noon, and afterwards try to discover what was said DL-6 in the game I should finish this week.

Edit: Some small corrections. I think it's expectable something done at 3AM to have those. Also now I'm facing... the one who disqualified Tea Guzzler back in round 3... and also sent him to loser's bracket in round 1.

looking forward to the analysis of Eelstartega
Thank you for not giving me pressure to do those analysis well. Tbf I started those before the comment got published, so I didn't get to do the table up until 3AM again. Now it was just until 2AM. Also, Finally I've beaten the first Ace Attorney, and... now I completely understand the shipping, it seriously feels written like they're ex-boyfriends rather than old fri...

Woah, I'm supposed to be here to talk about the tournament, so I'll talk about round 6 before i end up in one of those deviations again. First, the pokémon used:

Again, with numbers this low you can't really point to a trend. Even if you could, the tendency doesn't seem particularly interesting outside some few points
  • Mewtwo now has below 30% usage, an all-time low. Kyogre-Primal, Groudon and Miraidon are having a similar path.
  • The 3 flying types are becoming more and more popular, and same for Chansey and Diancie-Mega.
  • The chansey lead had become ridiculously prominent, literal half of times this round present, to the point you should consider investing on it in a proper manner to work as a regular Chansey because the chansey v chansey lead is quite common.
  • The pokémon with steel in name and Arceus-Fairy had an outstanding performance, while Blissey and Kartana had a rather poor week.
Now, Which teams got used now? Well, you can see it by yourself, even though using them won't really improve your victory ratio that much.

Btw, the habilities are mostly discovered via reverse engineering, which works fine for 2 of "the big 5" in Imposter and Regenerator, stuff like mold breaker and ruins reveal themselves, but you need a calculator for fur coat/ice scales, a keen eye for magic guard, simple, or skin hability action, Prankster and magic bounce might never reveal itself or need real attention to be clear, and in some cases they're indistinguishible even if you know it's there. Luckily sometimes participants throw me a bone via saying the kit the pokémon has after copying it with imposter, but that doesn't apply to most.

Opinion of the winners (Illustrated)

augustakira: First, no offense to french speakers, it just was slightly weird to see two players talking on their native language and it was my first thought about the battle. I've already talked about this player in week 5, so I don't feel I need to repeat myself; like a crocodile strike with care. Something interesting is seeing Augustakira using different teams, but the part of being more fit to semi-stall remins true here and is more creative I was giving credit for with stuff like Arceus-Dragon, Beedrill-Mega and Magearna, and has a deep trust on Celesteela as a pokémon which makes sense given the playstyle of Semistall. Still Clavell/Lenora btw, more Clavell after reading you.

cat: Well... this is certainly a player of all time. Thank you for allowing me to use the homer mental dialogue. Back to topic, I've noticed in all of those 3 games cat used the same specie variant: HO-OH. If I had to guess cat also seems like a good fan of double regen cores and seems to have a more offensive approach to games with all the pivoting, although might use more setup approach if necessary. Cat picks might be incredibly standard, but you can't really say the same about the moves; Is just a wild feline, and is impossible to really pinpoint which style will be prioritized, which is evident on how Ho-Oh had 3 different, non-conventional sets. The pokémon trainer of choice is Archie, the one who wanted to recreate the great flood.

cityscapes: AI never though you could end a BH game in less than 12 turns on a tournament after round 3, but here we are. She (Please calm your hormones. We don't know her in person) is mostly an offensive player who specializes in reading the opponent's habits to punish those hard. Loves to use slow pivot and commits to inherently risky sets like Zacian-Crowned, if that means a juicy reward of breaking through teams. Oddly enough that description also fits Clas quite well, which explains how the games ended up relying on speed ties from chansey and a team analysis. If I had to say a name, it would be Sabrina, the gym leader/actress who can read the future and tries to use it to her advantage.

Nihilslave: My opponent this week. From what I've experienced, Nihilslave is like a Poker Player, someone who remains calm and diligent until needing to reveal the hand, taking the opponent by surprise; can talk a bt too early but the words are justified. In terms of creativity, it's quite high actually, lots of thinking outside the box to punish MetaSlaves and to just crush their dreams; In my matches I noticed Aerialite M-Aerodactyl, Teleport Celesteela, Thunder Cage Arceus-Fairy, Surging strikes Deoxys-Attack, Diamond Storm Diancie-Mega, Volt Switch Mega-Mewtwo-X and even a move I didn't even knew it was legal in hearth swap Magearna. If I had to say a name It would be Karen, because Nihilslave loves to complain is unpredictable and terrifying as a trainer even if you know the plan, but can talk a bit too much. Wish you luck in the tour and your Bilibili channel.

Quantum Tesseract: ... I did not wanted to have that discussion last week, and now I do less. Presentation aside, Quantum plays, as the game profile may suggest, as a hornet, trying to strike straight to the weak point of the opponent while shouting "Shau" every 10 seconds, even if that demands a sacrifice or many. Quite similar to Augustakira's playstyle of last week, so you should know my thoughs about the playstyle (and other topics), which seems quite popular right now, but here there's more calculated risk involved, since Tesseract can play to trade like an offensive team if necessary to win. Creativity seems average, not too spicy nor bland. I said 2 weeks ago Quantum Tesseract would win this tour and this just reinforced my belief on that and even admiration. The pokemon equivalent would be Cheren, the only in-game Pokémon trainer who is both calm, collected, young and Talented (Most young trainers are either bad, immature, impulsive or many).

TTTech: Why do I have to talk about him instead of the actually interesting player in Geneku..? Fine. I'll do it. TTTech is a quite average good player. Playstyle seems more centered around setup sweep and allowing it, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel with creative teambuilding, although he might play something weird if he feels it'll work like with Belch fillet-away Hoopa-U like RoFnA. He also seems like the kind of player who plays at the edge of risk, but is relatively good at gathering information over the course of a match to make his plays less risky over the course of a match. Said playstyle reminds me of mine but actually good. My comparison to Pokémon is Steven Stone, a champion with honest but powerful team.

RoFnA: You again? Alright, almost everything I've said about this trainer last week still applies. Aside from that I'm also noticing a semistall-balance patron with strong wallbreakers, but still prefers to take stuff slowly so the play isn't wasted, specially since he heavily relies on. No wonder why RoFnA trusts so much Mega-Audino, because that playstyle is perfect for the chip war is going for, as well as that signature Toxic debris Eternatus, doing everything necessary to win and outlasting the opponent or breaking their defenses. Since things did not change, RoFnA is still Elesa.

And for the curious/new, Here are my previous weeks, although you don't need this for week 5 if i'm honest; you can just scroll upwards.
Week 1
Week 2
Week 3
Week 4
Week 5

... Uff, this took me EVEN LONGER than last week. I'm glad that I'm no longer trying to compete for money and that weeks become shorter overtime, both because of less matches AND names being repeated, but it was still quite time consuming, like 18 hours because I'm not someone who wants less than perfection if plausible and the Maduro image needed editing/censoring...
Why am I keep doing this? Probably because unlike at home my work here is actually apprec... Wait, that is for the ocupational therapist, not for you. I'll See you next time and hope the image I edited doesn't go away like with wikies.

Edit: Minor wording changes because it's difficult to not write something wrong or miss something when you're so tired. Also Chessking, Was your Garchomp Adaptability or Tough Claws? Also, looking back at week 2... wow, I'm amazed how I changed so much in only 4 weeks.

How have you been there? For my part quite bad if I'm honest; for putting voices on a visual novel with over the top characters, now with the addition of a german lady with a whip and a cute, small medium girl, now my mother thinks I became crazy like people with straitjacket (Remember me to NEVER Play DnD in my house). Yeah, that's not a very healthy rel... Oh wait, those are for the therapist, again.

New week, new reply of me showing numbers on how things went in the tournament, because just because I'm no longer here it means I no longer care. If you wonder why there's no percentages, well, the sample is just too small for those to have any meaning.

Btw, for the ones who did not picked up the joke of the images, the first one is literally "God said No!" in a card that YGO veterans should know, and the second is because of this dialogue... yes, that was a LoL card game, it has been online for over 3 years at this point. That's also where the art came from...

Oops, I got off-topic again. Honestly, I find it funny, that Blissey is still unranked despite being used as much as MMX and Steelix-Mega, and with a 3-1 record at that, which is just like Arceus-Poison (That's why you shouldn't take that ranking seriously alongside M-Gardevoir being B-tier); is even more ridiculous now that is the 3rd most used pokémon behind Chansey and Mewtwo-Mega-X. Also, Arceus-Dragon seems it's ticking up in popularity, although that might be just bias due to small sample size.

Augustakira: You should know the drill by now, Augustakira is the kind of player who wait and searches for a weak point. While usually prefers a semistall approach, here we appreciate more of a Balance team with two unique ideas, those being Greninja (Likely sniper because you don't want greninja to be outsped by Arceus) in a non-offensive team with double blob, and that Magic Guard Arceus Dragon I've mentioned last week alongside defensive Lunala, who seems to be kind of a new trend popularized by Augustakira. Doesn't seem to be that good of a loser though considering that reaction to being swept by Hoopa-Unbound, which was definitely unexpected, but hey, everyone has a bad day and I guess being swept isn't fun... I guess the first person who defeated me just wasn't going to win.

Fun trading: I was genuinely expecting to cover Clas here and that unusual HO style with reckless assault in a tier who is dominated by semistall, but we got here something even more interesting. Now, If I'm a noob, Fun Trading is even more so in some aspects, yet he's still in the tour. Why? Because A) Clas was busy with chat, and B) Fun Trading Is good at making difficult-to-exploit patterns. Is also the kind of trainer who likes to take their time a bit too much, something common on newer players, specially when losing. This playstyle is clearly on the balance side of things and apparently performs better when using a confort team than with a meta one; said team has weird picks in RegenVest M-TTar, Toxic Debris M-Venusaur, and the Pokemon that possess no real metagame niche according to the ranking in imposter Blissey... Sorry for my passive-agressivity, Tea, but said choices suggest he doesn't want to lose momentum when on defense. My guessing of this kind of trainer if pokémon would be Iris, the somewhat impulsive young prodigy.

Geneku2: If I had to describe this player is just as a mad lad/man. A staple of this player is the Double blob core, with Chansey not being imposter, and Arceus-Poison, as well as a heavy usage of Normalize Entertainment Dragapult and other anti-offense tricks like Switcheroo Kyogre and lots of trapping moves Ting-Lu. He's what a normal player would call human waste and lots of inappropiate terms for this forum, but in smogon terms is a Stall player, the kind of player who wants to drain resources from the and make you either pull your hair or take a nap, which makes sense considering the heavy usage of defense and barely enough offense, with matches even surpassing 150 turns. It would be indeed Volo, a wicked mind who basically "cheats" to win, or Red/Blue Lorelei with her infamous rest Dewgong who caused thousand of softlocks due to terrible coding.

I have some commentary about the match though. Ghostslake, Pure Hackmons, Ren, Berry, your behavior in chat was unacceptable, specially that lack of respect towards Fun Trading; I've not seen a chat this toxic since I left LoL for good. If I had to guess it's because discord collapsed and therefore you preferred to use Showdown's chat. But showdown isn't a place for this kind of swearing... Yes I know, I'm being your mom and my Pastor uncle right now, but this is a pokémon-related website and I know how toxicity scalates if not kept in check.

Frustratingly that's all I have to say for now, I can't get this completed until Clas and Fun for trading actually learn to organize a match. As always there are my previous weeks, although you don't need this for week 5 or 6 if i'm honest; you can just scroll upwards.

That would be it. Farewell and Why am I not surprised I reacted with love and tenderness towards the little girl..? NO, NOT that disgusting kind of love, the natural parental one; I guess because she reminded me of some of my sweet second nieces (or however it's called in english). Farewell and... Once again up until 2AM doing this, Sometimes I just hate my perfectionist side.

PS: FINE, I'll add %. I didn't yesterday because it was already 2 AM and I was tired.

P.P.S: Working on the edit of the current results. Needs more work than I was expecting due to poor planing... I ended. Finally.
