- Choice Specs Mewtwo is a strong and decently fast wallbreaker that crucially gets the jump on Arceus. Its power and coverage are nothing to scoff at as they give Mewtwo the ability to 2HKO or OHKO just about everything.
- However Mewtwo is not fast enough nor bulky enough to be able to keep up with Miraidon or Koraidon, both of whom can outspeed it and, if Stealth Rock was up, threaten a OHKO with Electro Drift and Flare Blitz respectively.
- Choice Specs defines this set as it gives a huge and immediate power boost to Mewtwo's attacks.
- Psystrike is Mewtwo's best move which it uses to deal massive damage and capitalize on the lack of Psychic resists in the tier, as not even Zacian-C can take more than 2 Psystrikes. It also helps against Calm Mind Arceus, especially the Tera Poison variants.
- Ice Beam is a strong move in general that can be used to hit Pokemon like Giratina-O and Tera Flying users like Zacian-C that wouldn't take as much damage from Psystrike. If Zacian-C is boosted from its Intrepid Sword or Swords Dance, Mewtwo can Terastallize into Fire to resist its STABs and OHKO it back with Ice Beam after minimal chip.
- Flamethrower is an important coverage option that allows Mewtwo to hit Zacian-C (which has a 40% chance to OHKO) and Tera Steel users super-effectively, as they usually wouldn't be very threatened by Psystrike. Koraidon's Sun can ensure the OHKO on Zacian-C as well as 2HKO max HP Arceus.
- Grass Knot is a very strong coverage move that is mainly used for hitting Mewtwo's worst enemy, Ting-Lu. It is also very useful for hitting Arceus-Ground, Kyogre, and Groudon much harder than Ice Beam, potentially scoring a OHKO if they adapt more offensive spreads.
- Tera Fire also gives Mewtwo useful resistances against common revenge killing options like Koraidon's Flare Blitz and Zacian-C's STAB moves. If Sun is active Tera Fire Flamethrower becomes even more threatening and effective as it can now be used to 2HKO foes as bulky as Clodsire and opposing Koraidon.
- Choice Specs Mewtwo's most important partner is Koraidon, usually with Choice Scarf. Koraidon helps power up Mewtwo's Flamethrower as well as lure in Mewtwo's favorite victims such as bulky Arceus formes and other physical checks.
- Mewtwo also appreciates a good defensive backbone to fall back on when Miraidon, Koraidon, and Zacian-C try to threaten it out. Referring to Clodsire, Ting-Lu, Skeledirge, Gliscor, Landorus-T, and others.
- Lastly, Miraidon and Calm Mind Arceus variants appreciate Mewtwo's effectiveness at breaking through opposing specially bulky Pokemon like Ting-Lu, Clodsire, Iron Treads, and defensive Arceus formes.
