Excadrill can be a useful lead on hyper offense teams thanks to the ability to enable threats like Ogerpon-C and Iron Jugulis who enjoy Stealth Rock being removed while providing some facet of removal against Sticky Web teams. Excadrill compresses Stealth Rock as a lead and can get them up by forcing out Pokemon such as Metagross, Rotom-W, and Tyranitar. Rock Tomb can slow down Pokemon attempting to set up against Excadrill like Kommo-o and Keldeo. Steel Beam is an alternative to KO itself to deny Mandibuzz and opposing Excadrill from removing its entry hazards, but Excadrill still offers some useful traits that make it worth not KOing itself. Focus Sash guarantees that Excadrill can get off at least one attack, often choosing to use Rapid Spin into Stealth Rock into attacking. While Excadrill should not be Terastallized under most common circumstances, as the mechanic is better utilized by a sweeper on the hyper offense team, Tera Ghost can be used in an emergency to block Rapid Spin from opposing Excadrill to guarantee Stealth Rock remains up.

Lead Excadrill is exclusively relegated to hyper offense teams as a lead that enables many sweepers to perform effectively. Iron Crown and Ogerpon-C are two of the best sweepers of the archetype, the former enjoying Excadrill keeping off Sticky Web and the latter enjoying Excadrill keep off Stealth Rock, and are able to take advantage of threats Excadrill gives entry to such as Kommo-o, Slowking, and Zapdos. Mimikyu can block Rapid Spin from opposing Excadrill, allowing Tera to be preserved, and utilizes the entry hazards to take out foes like Tinkaton easier while providing very valuable defensive utility against Lokix, Latios, and Greninja. Iron Jugulis appreciates the entry hazard chip wearing down Tornadus-T and can offensively check foes like Slowking, Ogerpon, and Hydrapple. Kommo-o is able to set up on and pressure Mandibuzz and Lokix, not to mention it can use Tera itself to now take out other threats like Zapdos and Slowking.

Excadrill compresses Stealth Rock as a lead and can get them up by forcing out Pokemon such as Metagross, Rotom-W, and Tyranitar. Rock Tomb can slow down Pokemon attempting to set up against Excadrill like Kommo-o and Keldeo. (Good against general offensve lead mons too, like Latios and Torn-T) Steel Beam is an alternative to KO itself to deny Mandibuzz and opposing Excadrill from removing its entry hazards, but Excadrill still offers some useful traits that make it worth not KOing itself. Focus Sash guarantees that Excadrill can get off at least one attack, often choosing to use Rapid Spin into Stealth Rock into attacking. While Excadrill should not be Terastallized under most common circumstances, as the mechanic is better utilized by a sweeper on a hyper offense team, Tera Ghost can be used in an emergency to block Rapid Spin from opposing Excadrill to guarantee Stealth Rock remains up. (I would also add somewhere that Excadrill is just the de facto best removal option for offense since the only other thing you can really use is Mandi, and you're not slotting that on HO. Seems especially worth since you explicitly mention the biggest downside to Steel Beam is that Exca provides valuable traits that make it a bad idea to kill yourself sometimes, and spinning is prob the biggest example of that.)

Lead Excadrill is exclusively relegated to hyper offense teams as a lead that enables many sweepers to perform effectively. Iron Crown and Ogerpon-C are two of the best sweepers of the archetype, the former enjoying Excadrill keeping off Sticky Web and the latter enjoying Excadrill keeping off Stealth Rock, and are able to take advantage of threats Excadrill gives entry to such as Kommo-o, Slowking, and Zapdos. Mimikyu can block Rapid Spin from opposing Excadrill, allowing Tera to be preserved, and utilizes the entry hazards to take out foes like Tinkaton easier while providing very valuable defensive utility against Lokix, Latios, and Greninja (punks Kommo-o too). Iron Jugulis appreciates the entry hazard chip wearing down Tornadus-T and can offensively check foes like Slowking, Ogerpon, and Hydrapple. Kommo-o is able to set up on and pressure Mandibuzz (I feel like this is begging to get Toxic'd if you're not Sub, prob should use a different example) and Lokix, not to mention it can use Tera itself to now take out other threats like Zapdos and Slowking. (Araquanid might be worth a mention here too since Lead Exca also fits well on webs due to its ability to keep rocks/opposing webs off)
